Wednesday evening, nine former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from March 31.

Best of the Day: Fred VanVleet

Despite Dixon’s Isaiah Roby and the Oklahoma Thunder getting the win, Auburn’s Fred VanVleet was very active and filled the whole stat sheet so he gets the honor of being the “Best of the Day” for March 31

  • Fred VanVleet (Auburn/Raptors)- 39 minutes, 18 points, 5/17 FG, 3/10 3PT, 5/6 FT, 4 rebounds, a game-high 7 assists, a game-high 5 steals, a game-high 4 blocks, 2 turnovers, and -9 in a 113-103 loss to the Thunder.

  • Isaiah Roby (Dixon/Thunder)- 32 minutes, 17 points, 7/12 FG, 1/2 3PT, 2/2 FT, 4 offensive rebounds, 10 total rebounds, 3 assists, 4 turnovers, and +0 in a 113-103 win over the Raptors. His 10 total rebound tied a career-high.
  • Richaun Holmes (Lockport/Kings)- 31 minutes, 14 points, 6/8 FG, 2/2 3PT, 5 offensive rebounds, a game-high 15 total rebounds, a tame-high 2 blocks, a turnover, and -28 in a 120-106 loss to the Spurs. Holmes is up to 20 double-doubles this season.

  • Andre Iguodala (Lanphier/Heat)- 23 minutes, 2 points, 1/4 FG, 0/1 3PT, 2 offensive rebounds, 7 total rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, a turnover, and +3 in a 92-87 win over the Pacers.
  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Mavericks)- 33 minutes, 21 points, 8/10 FG, 1/1 3PT, 4/4 FT, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal, a turnover, and -1 in a 113-108 win over the Celtics.

  • Jevon Carter (Proviso East/Suns)- 13 minutes, 0/1 FG, an offensive rebound, 2 total rebounds, an assist, and -2 in a 121-116 win over the Bulls.

  • Alfonzo McKinnie (Marshall/Lakers)- 2 minutes, 4 points, 1/1 FG, 2/3 FT, a rebound, and +3 in a 112-97 loss to the Bucks.
  • Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon/Lakers)- 17 minutes, 3 points, 1/4 FG, 0/1 3PT, 1/2 FT, a rebound, an assist, a team-high 6 turnovers, and +2 in a 112-97 loss to the Bucks.
  • Robert Covington (Proviso West/Trail Blazers)- 30 minutes, 16 points, 6/8 FG, 4/5 3PT, 6 rebounds, an assist, a game-high 3 steals (tied with Norman Powell), a block, a turnover, and a game-high +22 in a 124-101 win over the Pistons.
