Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- March 16 and 17

Eleven former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes on Wednesday and just one on Thursday in various NBA games. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from February 16 and 17.

Best of the Day:

Wednesday

  • Patrick Beverly (Marshall/Minnesota Timberwolves)- 29 minutes, 18 points, 6/9 FG, 2/3 3PT, 4/4 FT, 2 offensive rebounds, 6 total rebounds, an assist, a steal, a game-high 3 blocks, and +4 in a 124-104 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

No “Best of the Day” for Thursday since the only performances of the day came in a loss.

Wednesday

  • Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon/Los Angeles Lakers)- 9 minutes, 2 points, 1/5 FG, 0/3 3PT, an offensive rebound, 3 total rebounds, an assist, a turnover, and -14 in a 124-104 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Dallas Mavericks)- 34 minutes, 18 points, 8/15 FG, 1/3 3PT, 1/1 FT, an offensive rebound, 5 total rebounds, 3 assists, 2 turnovers, and +7 in a 113-111 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
  • Sterling Brown (Proviso East/Dallas Mavericks)- 9 minutes, 2 points, 1/3 FG, 0/1 3PT, and a team-worst -9 in a 113-111 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
  • JaVale McGee (Hales Franciscan/Phoenix Suns)- 16 minutes, 8 points, 4/6 FG, 2 offensive rebound, 5 total rebounds, a turnover, and a team-worst -8 in a 129-112 win over the Houston Rockets.
  • Isaiah Roby (Dixon/Oklahoma City Thunder)- 14 minutes, 10 points, 2/3 FG, 1/1 3PT, 5/6 FT, 3 rebounds, and -14 in a 122-120 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
  • Ayo Dosunmu (Morgan Park/Chicago Bulls)- 21 minutes, 15 points, 6/11 FG, 2/3 3PT, 1/1 FT, an offensive rebounds, 3 total rebounds, 6 assists, a steal, 2 turnovers, and -13 in a 125-110 loss to the Utah Jazz.
  • Jevon Carter (Proviso East/Milwaukee Bucks)- 133 minutes, 3 points, 1/2 FG, 1/2 3PT, 4 rebounds, an assist, and -2 in a 135-126 win over the Sacramento Kings.
  • Richaun Holmes (Lockport/Sacramento Kings)- 13 minutes, 6 points, 3/5 FG, an offensive rebound, 2 total rebounds, an assist, a game-high 1 block (tied with 7 others), a team-high +11 in a 135-126 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
  • Fred VanVleet (Auburn/Toronto Raptors)- 36 minutes, 21 points, 7/17 FG, 3/9 3PT, 4/6 FT, an offensive rebounds, 2 total rebounds, a team-high 3 assists (tied with Pascal Siakam), a steal, 3 turnovers, and +8 in a 103-100 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
  • Robert Covington (Proviso West/Los Angeles Clippers)- 21 minutes, 7 points, 3/6 FG, 1/3 3PT, 4 rebounds, a game-high 3 steals, a turnover, and +4 in a 103-100 loss to the Toronto Raptors.

Thursday

  • Admiral Schofield (Zion-Benton Township)- 21 minutes, 7 points, 2/3 FG, 1/2 3PT, 2/2 FT, 5 rebounds, and -4 in a 134-120 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
