Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- March 14- Beverly Ties Career-High in Points in a Big T’Wolves’ Win

Monday, seven former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in various NBA games. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from March 14.

Best of the Day: Patrick Beverly

Patrick Beverly (Marshall) scored 20 of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 149 points on Monday. His 20 points not only helped his team but tied his career-high.

  • Patrick Beverly (Marshall/Minnesota)- 30 minutes, 20 points, 5/8 FG, 3/4 3PT, 7/8 FT, an offensive rebound, 4 total rebounds, a team-high 8 assists, a steal, a team-high 1 block (tied with 2 others), a turnover, and +2 in a 149-139 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

Rest of the Day’s Performances:

  • Isaiah Roby (Dixon/Oklahoma City Thunder)- 10 minutes, 4 rebounds, a team-high 1 block (tied with 2 others), and -6 in a 134-116 loss to the Charlotte Hornets.
  • Richaun Holmes (Lockport/Sacramento Kings)- 10 minutes, a rebound, a block, and -1 in a 112-103 win over the Chicago Bulls.
  • Ayo Dosunmu (Morgan Park/Chicago Bulls)- 31 minutes, 6 points, 3/9 FG, 0/5 3PT, an offensive rebound, 2 total rebounds, 2 turnovers, and -14 in a 112-103 loss to the Sacramento Kings.
  • Jevon Carter (Proviso East/Milwaukee Bucks)- 21 minutes, 5 points, 1/1 FG, 1/1 3PT, 2/2 FT, an offensive rebound, 2 total rebounds, 2 assists, a team-high 1 block (tied with 2 others), and a game-high +13 in a 117-111 win over the Utah Jazz.
  • Fred VanVleet (Auburn/Toronto Raptors)- 40 minutes, 11 points, 3/14 FG, 2/12 3PT, 3/4 FT, 7 rebounds, a game-high 7 assists, a steal, 2 turnovers, and +21 in a 114-103 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
  • Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon/Los Angeles Lakers)- 27 minutes, 20 points, 8/13 FG, 3/5 3PT, 1/2 FT, an offensive rebound, 5 total rebounds, a team-high 5 assists, a game-high 2 steals (tied with a few others), a block, a turnover, and +12 in a 114-103 loss to the Toronto Raptors.

Richaun Holmes (Lockport) was fine $25,000 for throwing a basketball into the stands during a game on March 12.
