Saturday evening, three former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in various NBA games. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from January 22.
Best of the Day
- JaVale McGee (Hales Franciscan/Phoenix Suns)- 18 minutes, 13 points, 6/10 FG, 1/2 FT, 5 offensive rebounds, 12 total rebounds, a game-high 3 blocks, and +4 in a 113-103 win over the Indiana Pacers.
Rest of the Day’s Performances
- Richaun Holmes (Lockport/Sacramento King)- 25 minutes, 17 points, 8/9 FG, 1/1 FT, 2 offensive rebounds, 7 total rebounds, 2 assist, a team-high 1 steal (tied with a few others), a game-high 1 block (tied with Davion Mitchell), a turnover, and -6 in a 133-127 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
- This was the most points Holmes scored since late November/early December.
- Keifer Sykes (Marshall/Indiana Pacers)- 26 minutes, 5 points, 2/8 FG, 1/2 3PT, a rebounds, 2 assist, a game-high 1 steal (tied with many others), a game-high 5 turnovers, and +1 in a 113-103 loss to the Phoenix Suns.
