Entering a sport your parents played can be hard, and that can even be said for young athletes with overbearing parent at the younger levels. But imagine what it must be like to be a son of a former NBA legend. That is the life of Gary Payton II who is the son Gary Payton. Gary Payton played for five different teams, most notably with the SuperSonics. During he tenure, he excelled and even won several award and honors. He also was able to snag a NBA Championship in 2006 with the Miami Heat.
Gary Payton II is trying to make his own mark on this league and will do so no matter what it takes. He told ESPN reporter Malika Andrews that even tried to join the Golden State Warriors by applying to an open video coordinator position.
He did even better: make the roster and is now getting NBA Finals minutes.
