MLB superstar Albert Pujols is hanging up his cleats and retiring at the end of this season after 22 big-league season. Pujols has accomplished just about everything a player can accomplish during their career. He’s won rookie of the year, MVP awards, all-star selections, Gold Gloves, Silver Slugger awards, a batting title, several other awards and honors, and of course, two World Series rings. Despite all of his on field greatness, he’s been one of the greatest humans to play the game and it was on display during his final series at Wrigley Field.

Wednesday evening, St. Louis Cardinals were defeated 7-1 by the Chicago Cubs but it did not really matter in the grand scheme. Cardinals are still a top team and are still putting smiles on their fan’s faces in the losses.

At the conclusion of the game, a young fan with a sign asking to trade jerseys was given a game-worn Albert Pujols St. Louis cards jersey by the man himself, Mr. Pujols.

To some, they’ll see dollar signs but for that boy, he will remember that moment and being able to interact with one of the greatest to play the game of baseball.

An uneventful night can mean more to another with one move like the one by Pujols. And for Pujols, he might be headed for some more glory.

The season is not done just yet but the excitement around Albert Pujols and St. Louis Cardinals is heating up. Do not look away just yet. Pujols might mess around and hit his 700th home run and win a World Series on his way out.
