Injuries are quickly piling up for the New Orleans Pelicans. Six notable players listed below are all missing significant time to start the season.
- October 25- Dejounte Murray (hand)- Out at least 4-to-6 weeks.
- November 1- Herb Jones (right shoulder strain and small low-grade partial thickness tear in his rotator cuff)- Out 2-to-4 weeks.
- November 1- CJ McCollum (right adductor strain)- Out 2-to-3 weeks.
- November 8- Jordan Hawkins (low back strain)- Out 1-to-2 weeks.
- November 9- Zion Williamson (left hamstring strain)- Out indefinitely.
- November 12- Jose Alvarado (left hamstring strain)- Will be evaluated in three weeks.
When a door closes, another opens. The door for opportunity has opened for rookie guard Antonio Reeves (Simeon) as he is starting to receive more minutes. So far, he been rather quiet but the confidence is showing as seen in his steal and basket against the Brooklyn Nets.
Given more time, Reeves could find himself in a significant role even when his Pelican teammate return.

- Buzelis missed a three point attempt, grabbed a rebound, had a turnover, and a finished with a zero plus-minus.
- Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon) played just one minutes and had a -3 plus-minus.

- Fred VanVleet (Auburn) was not active and missed his first game of the season as he is dealing with a hamstring issue.
