Angel Reese seems like she has yet to take a day off since the Chicago Sky season ended. Whether is workouts, games or business deals, she’s been a powerhouse during her first WNBA offseason.
Thursday was a big day of announcements and news for her and the her Chicago team.
The first bit of news was the announcement of the Angel Reese Special debuting on February 10, 2025.
Her special is a BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder with Cheese that features a new barbecue sauce.
Reese becomes the first women’s athletes to have a signature meal with McDonalds.
Arielle Chambers wrote a piece for Andscape highlighting the partnership and what it meant to Reese. Click here to read.
A bit later, Reese shared her latest Unapologetically Angel podcast episode. The episode features Reese’s mom which the two share the same first name.
The duo talked about Reese’s life before the fame, college decisions, and the episode ended with a special birthday present for her mom.
That present was having her mortgage completely paid off which allows her mom to retire if she wanted. That move is one that most children would love to do for their parents if given the opportunity.
And she made it possible.
The last bit of news broke on Thursday but was not made official until Friday morning.
Brazil Women’s National Team is playing exhibition games against WNBA team in preseason which includes the Chicago Sky.
Their matchup takes place on Louisiana State University which is Reese’s college roots. It will be held at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Friday May 2 at 7 p.m. CT.
Reese’s birthday is just a few short days after on May 6.
Reese’s teammate Kamilla Cardoso is making her first appearance against the Brazilian National team after playing for them in previous events.
In a statement put out by the Sky, Reese shared her joy to be back playing at LSU.
“It will be amazing to return to Baton Rouge, a community that means so much to me. LSU was instrumental in preparing me for the WNBA and I can’t wait to hit the court in front of both Tigers and Sky fans!”
Reese won a National Championship in 2023 at LSU and was the tournament’s Most Outstanding player. She also was an unanimous All-American that same season.
How About The Rest of the Offseason?
Business deals, podcast drops, and basketball have not stopped.
Reese is playing in the first season of Unrivaled which is a 3-on-3 basketball league. This new league is a new alternative for WNBA player to avoid going to other countries to make money in the offseason.
Through four games, Reese is averaging 10.8 points with 8.3 rebounds (2.3 offensive), two assists, and 0.8 steals per game for Team Rose.

Off the court, she’s seen great success with podcast. Some of the other guests of her show have included, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Sexy Red, Coco Jones, Speedy Norman, and Lonzo and LiAngelo Ball.
She’s was on the cover of Winter Vogue this past month as well as the Sports Illustrated in the early Fall.

Deals are getting done. Outside of the McDonald’s deal, she’s collaborated with CashApp, Reebok, Reeses, Beats By Dre, and UGG.

Fans might have even spotted her at a Chicago Bears game, a Baltimore Ravens, Bulls games, Orlando Magic games, and New York Knick games and events like Footwear News Achievement Awards 2024, WNBA Draft Lottery, and the Victoria Secret Fashion Show.

And before anyone says something about picking up the basketball, besides her play for Unrivaled, she’s been working with some of the best trainers in the world. One of those being Tim Martin. His recent clients have included Tyrese Maxey and 2024 NBA Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama.

Reese unfortunately had her rookie season cut short after sustaining a hairline fracture in her wrist. It was a big blow to her and her Chicago Sky team. The 22-year-old had decent success and seems eager to build upon that showing.
She played 34 games and averaged 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds (league leader), and 1.3 steals per game as a rookie.
This rookie campaign has been one for the books. Year 2 is looking to be even bigger.
