Richaun Holmes (Lockport) found himself starting for the first time this season in Washington Wizards’ 119-102 win over the Brooklyn Nets. He had nine points (4-5 FG, 1-1 FT) with five rebounds, three assists, a block in 27 minutes. He’s now played in six straight games for Washington. During that span he’s averaging 6.3 points on 72.7 percent shooting with 5.5 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game.

John Konchar (West Chicago) came off the bench in Memphis Grizzlies 138-107 win over the Toronto Raptors. Konchar had two rebounds and a +3 plus-minus in four minutes. In 19 of his 27 games, he’s played less than 20 minutes.

Antonio Reeves (Simeon) played 15 minutes in New Orlean Pelicans 144-119 loss to the Denver Nuggets. He had three minutes (1-3 FG, 1-3 3PT) with two assist and a -5 plus-minus. Dating back to December 26, Reeves is averaging 3.8 points on splits of .467/.444/1.000 in 9.2 minutes per game.

Minnesota Timberwolves defeated Chicago Bulls, 127-108. Matas Buzelis (Hinsdale Central) made his first career start. He had 14 points (4-10 FG, 0-4 3PT, 6-9 FT) with five rebounds (one offensive), an assist, two steals, three blocks, and a -20 plus-minus in 29 minutes. His six made free throws were a team-high tied with Coby White. His nine free throw attempts were a team-high. His two steals were a team-high tied with two others. His three blocks were a game-high tied with Minnesota’s Rudy Gobert. Buzelis has twice as many blocks (44) as he does assists (22) this season.

Ayo Dosunmu (Morgan Park) got the start alongside Buzelis. Dosunmu had 11 points (5-10 FG, 1-5 3PT) with four assists, two steals, two turnovers, ands a -8 plus-minus in 36 minutes. His 36 minutes were a team-high two steals were a team-high tied with two others. His 4.8 field goals per game this season is a career-best. Jevon Carter (Proviso East) finished with 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3PT), two rebounds, six assists, a steal, a turnover, and a +4 plus-minus in 23 minutes. His six assists and +4 plus-minus were both team-highs. His six assists were also a season-high. E.J. Liddell (Belleville West) did not play due to a coach’s decision. Terrence Shannon Jr. (Lincoln Park) made his first NBA appearance since December 23. He played just one minutes, missed a field goal attempts, and had a +2 plus-minus in the win.

G League Games

Memphis Hustle defeated Iowa Wolves, 142-120. Malachi Smith (Belleville West) and DJ Steward (Whitney Young) got the start for the Hustle while Charles Matthews (St. Rita) came off the bench in the win. Smith had 15 points (6-8 FG, 2-3 3PT, 1-1 FT) with three rebounds, four assists, two turnovers, and a +26 plus-minus in 30 minutes. Steward had 22 points (6-10 FG, 2-5 3PT, 4-4 FT) with six rebounds (two offensive), 10 assists, a steal, and a +16 plus-minus in 32 minutes.

Matthews had six points (3-5 FG, 0-1 3PT) with two rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a +5 plus-minus in 13 minutes. Nojel Eastern (Evanston) started in the loss for the Wolves. He had 24 points (8-17 FG, 4-9 3PT, 3-3 FT) with seven rebounds (two offensive), two assists, a steal, a turnover, and a -19 plus-minus in 33 minutes.
