Cleveland Cavaliers defeated Orlando Magic, 122-82. Max Strus (Stagg) got his 16th start of the season in the win. He was quick to get on the scoreboard scoring his teams first six points. The game’s first basket was a 3-pointer 14 seconds into the game on Tuesday.
He had 17 points (6-9 FG, 5-7 3PT) with an offensive rebound, two assists, a steal, a turnover, and a +14 plus-minus in just 21 minutes. His five made 3-pointers were a game-high while his seven 3-points attempts were also a game-high but tied with Orlando’s Paolo Banchero. Strus matched his career-high in points (17) and made 3-pointers (5) in the win. He did not play any of the fourth quarter. Strus was subbed out with 4:56 left in the third and watched from the bench the rest of the evening.
Houston Rockets defeated Milwaukee Bucks, 100-97. Fred VanVleet (Auburn) did not play on his 31st birthday due a coach’s decision. This his 10th straight game missed as he is likely still dealing with his ankle injury.
Antonio Reeves (Simeon) came off the bench in New Orleans Pelicans 109-103 win over San Antonio Spurs. He had three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3PT) with a block and a +4 plus-minus in four minutes.
Memphis Grizzlies defeated Phoenix, 151-148, in overtime. John Konchar (West Chicago) did not play due to a coach’s decision.
Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers squared up for the first time since their stunning trade deal. Lakers defeated Mavs, 107-99 on Tuesday. Jordan Goodwin (Althoff Catholic) came off the bench for Los Angeles. He had one point (0-2 FG, 0-1 3PT, 1-2 FT) with two rebounds (one offensive), a block, a turnover, and a -2 plus-minus in six minutes. Goodwin has at least one rebound in all six games he’s played this season. Max Christie (Rolling Meadows) started in the loss against his old team while Olivier-Maxence Prosper (Lake Forest) came off the bench for the Mavs. Christie had 10 points (4-13 FG, 2-4 3PT) with a rebound, a game-high six assists, a block, turnover, and a -3 plus-minus in 37 minutes. Christie is shooting 44.2 percent on 4.8 attempts from beyond the arc through his first nine Mavs games.
Prosper had zero points (0-1 FG) with two rebound, a block, and a +6 plus-minus in seven minutes. This was the 18th game Prosper has failed to score.
G League Games
Windy City Bulls defeated Wisconsin Herd, 106-104. E.J. Liddell (Belleville West) started in the win while Javon Freeman-Liberty (Whitney Young) and Ben Coupet Jr. (Simeon) came off the bench. Liddell had 19 points (6-13 FG, 3-6 3PT, 3-3 FT) with six rebounds (two offensive), two assists, a steal, four blocks, three turnovers, and a -6 plus-minus in 37 minutes.
