Chicago Bulls defeated Miami Heat, 119-111. Matas Buzelis (Hinsdale Central) started for Chicago while Talen-Horton-Tucker (Simeon) came off the bench. Buzelis had 17 points (6-10 FG, 3-5 3PT, 2-2 FT) with four rebounds, a steal, a block, a turnover, and a game-high +21 plus-minus in 34 minutes. Buzelis is shooting 47.5 percent (10-21) from beyond the arc in five April games.
Talen-Horton Tucker had two points (1-4 FG, 0-1 3PT) with an offensive rebound and a zero plus-minus in eight minutes. He has at least one offensive rebound in 15 of his 56 games played.
Jevon Carter (Proviso East) and E.J. Liddell (Belleville West) did not play in the win.
Los Angeles Lakers defeated Dallas Mavericks, 112-97. Jordan Goodwin (Althoff Catholic) came off the Lakers bench for 22nd time. He had zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3PT) with two rebounds (one offensive), two steals, a turnover, and a -2 plus-minus in nine minutes. Goodwin has at least one offensive rebound in 24 of his 27 games played this season. For Dallas, Anthony Davis (Perspectives) started while Max Christie (Rolling Meadows) came off the bench. Davis had 13 points (5-13 FG, 0-2 3PT, 3-5 FT) with a game-high 11 rebounds, six assists, a block, four turnovers, and a -10 plus-minus in 33 minutes. His three free throws were a team-high tied with three others. His five free throw attempts were a team-high tied with just two others. This is Davis’ third double-double with the Mavs.
Christie had 11 points (5-8 FG, 1-4 3PT, 0-2 FT) with three rebounds (one offensive), three assists, a steal, a game-high two blocks, three turnovers, and a -7 plus-minus in 28 minutes. Despite coming off the bench in 20 games, Christie is averaging 10.8 points in his first 30 games with Dallas.
Orland Magic defeated Boston Celtics, 96-76. Drew Peterson (Libertyville) came off the Celtics bench for the third time this month. He had three points
(1-4 FG, 1-4 3PT) with four rebounds (one offensive), a tunrover, and a -8 plus-minus in 13 minutes. This was the fifth most minutes on an NBA court this season for Peterson.
Philadelphia 76ers defeeated Washington Wizards, 122-103. Richaun Holmes (Lockport) did not play due to his right shoulder contusion.
Los Angeles Lakers defeated Houston Rockets, 134-117. Cam Christie (Rolling Meadows) played 47 seconds and had a zero plus-minus. This was Christie’s season-high fifth straight game and 13th overall. Christie has scored in six of his 13th appearances.
