Connecticut Sun take Aneesah Morrow (Simeon) with their seventh pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
Morrow is coming off an exceptional college career between her time at DePaul and Louisiana State University. Before evening stepping onto a college court, Morrow had already carried her Simeon Wolverines to a 35-2 record and a state title in 2020.
She stayed home and went to DePaul for her freshman and sophomore seasons. During her time at DePaul, she had 53 double-doubles. Her 457 rebounds during her freshman year were a DePaul rebounding single season record. Morrow averaged a career-high 25.7 points and 12.2 rebounds her sophomore season. Her points were fourth in the nation and her rebounds were seventh in the nation that season.
After her two years as a Blue Demons, she wanted something different and joined the LSU Tigers.
The 6-foot-1 powered cemented her name in the record and history books for her play on the court. One honor of note was the 2025 Katrina McClain Award which goes to the best power forward in the country.
This season, Morrow averaged 18.7 points on 49 percent shooting with 13.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 2.5 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game. She was the LSU team leader in scoring and the nation leader in rebounding and double-doubles (30). No one had more than 22 double-doubles besides Morrow.
She played in 139 games across her four collegiate seasons. She averaged 20.5 points, 12.3 rebounds (4.4 offensive), 1.7 assists, 2.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game.
She finished third in the college record books for rebounds with 1,714 behind Courtney Paris (2,034) and Wanda Ford (1,815). Morrow is also in second place for double-doubles finishing with 104. Morrow trails Paris there too- she finished with 128.
At the conclusion of LSU’s season, Morrow announced she was headed to the WNBA Draft.
And now she’s headed to the Connecticut Sun to be a vital piece for the rebuilding team. Side note: Morgan Tuck (Bolingbrook) is the Sun’s General Manager.
But first, a quick congratulations video from another fellow Simeon Wolverine legend, Derrick Rose.
Morrow has made an immediate impact everywhere she has gone and it will continue for her next team as well.
The WNBA teams that skipped her will wish they had drafted her and the ones that did not get the opportunity to draft her, will wish they had a higher pick.
WNBA season tips-off on Friday May 16- the Sun play days later at home on May 18.
