Chicago Bulls-Miami Heat
Miami Heat come into Chicago and defeated the Bulls, 109-90. Heat held a 71-47 lead at the half. Bull got within 13 point early in the fourth but the lead was to big to erase completely.
Matas Buzelis (Hinsdale Central) started for Bulls in the play-in game. He had nine points (4-9 FG, 1-4 3PT, 0-1 FT) with six rebounds (one offensive), two assists, a steal, a turnover, and a -13 plus-minus in 35 minutes. Buzelis finished the season playing in 81 of the Bulls possible 83 games (regular and play-in). His two missed games were a road game in Brooklynn on November 1 and Atlanta on December 26. Buzelis finished the year playing in 52 straight games for Chicago include 32 straight starts- this includes regular and postseason games.
Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon) came off the bench in the loss and had nine points too. He also had a rebound, a game-high three steals, a turnover, and a -7 plus-minus in 16 minutes. He shot 4-for-6 from the field and 1-for-3 from beyond the arc. This was the fifth game this season Horton-Tucker had multiple steals in a game. His three steals matches a season-high set on December 30 in an overtime win on the road at Charlotte.
Jevon Carter (Proviso East) did not play- the only active player on Chicago to do so. Carter played just 36 games this season- a career-low.
Dallas Mavericks-Sacramento Kings
Dallas Mavericks outscored the Sacramento Kings 44-19 in the second quarter to give them a 71-48 lead at the half. The Mavs held onto the lead and went on to defeat the Kings, 120-106.
Anthony Davis (Perspectives) made the start for Dallas. He had a team-high 27 points (9-23 FG, 3-6 3PT, 6-6 FT). with nine points (four offensive), an assist, a steal, a game-high three blocks, and a +10 plus-minus in 35 minutes. His field goals, field goal attempts, offensive rebounds, and total rebounds are team-highs. His six free throws were a game-high tied with P.J. Washington. His six free throw attempts were a game-high tied with two others. His total rebounds were a team-high tied with P.J. Washington. Davis has just four double-doubles since joining Dallas- he’s also only played 10 games.
Max Christie (Rolling Meadows) came off the bench and played just 13 minutes. He had two points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3PT) with a rebound, an assist, and a team-worst -16 plus-minus. This is the fourth game with Dallas that Christie scored less than three points.
