Just two games on the WNBA slate for Saturday, June 21.
In Game 1, Phoenix Mercury (11-4) extend their win streak to five games after defeating the Chicago Sky (3-9) on the road, 107-86.
This is the first time in 2025 the Mercury have scored over 100 points.
Six Phoenix players scored in double figures with Sami Whitcomb (5-10 3PT) leading the way with 17 points off the bench. Chicago had four players in double figures scoring.
Kamilla Cardoso and Michaela Onyenwere each had 17 points for Chicago.
The Sky shot shot 52.6 percent from the field compared to the Mercury’s 51.5 percent. The difference was that Chicago had just eight 3-pointers to Phoenix’s 17.
Phoenix also outrebounded Chicago 34-22. Alyssa Thomas had 11 points and a game-high eight rebounds. No Chicago player had more than three rebounds.
Chicago went 18-for-20 from the line and Phoenix went 20-for-24
The Sky play next on Sunday, June 22 against the Atlanta Dream at the Gateway Center. The game starts at 2 PM
The Mercury do not play until Friday, June 27 against the New York Liberty at the PHX Arena. Game time is 9 PM.
In Game 2, Minnesota Lynx (12-1) defeated Los Angeles Sparks (4-10), 82-66. After seeing their nine game winstreak to start the season snapped against against the Seatle Storm, Minnesota have won three straight games.
No Napheesa Collier for the Lynx and no Cameron Brink for the Sparks in this game.
Kayla McBride delivered for Minnesota. She had a game-high 29 points while going 9-for-13 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Her teammate, Courtney Williams, filled the stat sheet. She had 18 points, three rebounds, a game-high six assists, and four steals in the win.
Kelsey Plum had a team-high 15 points for the Sparks despite shooting just 6-for-16.
Dearica Hamby had 13 points (5-9 FG) with six rebounds and four steals in the loss.
The Sparks struggled offensively shooting just 36.9 percent on 65 field goal attempts and 22.6 percent from 3-point range.
The Lynx did not struggle. They shot 53.6 percent on just 56 field goal attempts and shot 44 percent from beyond the arc.
Los Angeles will head to Chicago for a matchup against the Sky on Tuesday, June 24 at Wintrust Arena. Game time is 7 PM.
Minnesota plays next against on the road against the Washington Mystics on Tuesday, June 24.
