Golden State Valkyries defeated Chicago Sky, 83-78. Valkyries guard Kate Martin (Edwardsville) scored in double digits in back-to-back games for just the second time this season. She had 11 points (4-11 FG, 3-7 3PT) with three rebounds and a +1 plus-minus in 20 minutes off the bench.
Seattle Storm defeated Connecticut Sun, 97-81. Aneesah Morrow (Simeon) had a team-high/career 20 points (9-14 FG, 2-2 3PT) and 11 rebounds for her first career WNBA double-double. She also had an assist, two steals, and a -1 plus-minus in 27 minutes off the bench. Her four offensive rebounds were a game-high. Morrow and two others had a team-high three tunrnovers.
NBA
Ty Johnson (DePaul College Prep) has signed on with the Los Angeles Clippers for Summer League.
Johnson played at Loyola (Chicago) his freshman year before finishing his final three seasons with UC Davis
He played in 108 college games including 93 starts. He averaged 15.8 points on 41.6 percent shooting with 3.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.6 steals in 27.6 minutes per game.
The 6-3 guard earned All-Big West twice and was named to All-Big West tournament team.
Last season, he led the Big West in points with 21.1 per game and was second in steals with 2.3 per game.
