The NBA and WNBA have provided quite a bit to talk about for the Illinois Update articles and even with them being daily at this point, stuff gets missed.
This article will include a handful of players and those missed headlines for July.
Matas Buzelis and Ayo Dosunmu
Chicago Bulls teammates Matas Buzelis (Hinsdale Central) and Ayo Dosunmu (Morgan Park) took a trip to Chicago Bear camp this week.
The two watched and chatted with Bears players as well as met Chicago sports fans attending the practice. They even dabbled in creating some Tik Tok videos.
Just about a week before the Bears camp, Buzelis visited Wrigley Field to watch the Baby Bears a.k.a the Cubs. He caught up with their star and NL MVP candidate Pete Crow-Armstrong. They might have even shared numbers to stay connected.
Maybe PCA will be court-side at a Bulls game come this winter.
Allie Quigley
Allie Quigley (Joliet Catholic) recently made her retirement official back in June.
As one should, the Chicago Sky returned her No. 14 jersey and hung it up in the Wintrust Arena rafters at July 9th game.
Antonio Reeves
Charlotte Hornet signed free-agent guard Antonio Reeves (Simeon) to a Two-Way contract.
Reeve averaged 14.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in five Summer League games with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Max Strus
Cleveland Cavaliers forward Max Strus (Stagg) hosted his annual Max Strus Basketball Camp at Stagg High School- his alma mater.
Campers from all over Illinois and in other parts of the country came to his Palos Hills to spend four days with the Cavs.
Some of those that stopped by includes NBA players Herb Jones, Caleb Martin and Keegan Murray as well as head coaches of DePaul in Chris Holtmann and Cavs’ Kenny Atkinson.
It was a week of fun, supporting the Max Strus Family Foundation, and giving back to the community.
