Brooklyn Nets signed Malachi Smith (Belleville West) on Tuesday, October 14.
Since going undrafted in 2023, he has been playing in the NBA G League.
Last season, he played 46 games for the Memphis Hustle. Smith averaged 11.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 25.3 minutes per game.
The 6-4 guard shot a strong 50.1 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from beyond the arc for the hustle.
He now joins Belleville West grad E.J. Liddell and Danny Wolf (Lake Forest) as Illinois natives currently playing for the Nets.

Los Angeles Clippers defeated Sacramento Kings, 109-91. Cam Christie (Rolling Meadows) did not play in the win.
