The Chicago Bulls were scheduled to play the Miami Heat Thursday evening at the United Center with a 7 PM tip-off. But that never happened and instead the game was postponed due to condensation on the court.
It’s a rainy night around Chicago and it messed with the atmosphere of the famed UC. Players quickly noticed the conditions of the court which brought out building workers to try and dry up the floor.
Some even had a bit of fun with it- no surprise to see Benny The Bull out there during the delay.
The hopes were after a quick delay they could get things back to normal and proceed with a NBA game between Chicago and Miami. After about an hour, teams returned to the locker rooms and at 8:53- nearly two hours after tip-off time- the game was called.
In classic Reinsdorf’s team fashion, fans got in, spent a bit of their money, game gets called but they get invited back to pay for parking and food all over again at a later date.
A win in Jerry’s world. This weather makes it feel like White Sox game just got called.
Also, oddly enough this actually is not the first time this has happened either. Bulls broadcaster Chuck Swirsky shared that it once happened at a Philadelphia Sacramento game in 2016.
Welcome to the rollercoaster life following Chicago sports.
