A once-promising team in the Chicago White Sox have now found themselves digging out of a whole that keeps being filled as they dig out. The White Sox are in third place of the AL Central with their 27-30 record. They are also six games back of the Minnesota Twins and have yet to be within a game since April 23.
It’s been an unfortunate road of injuries, errors, and mismanagement for quite awhile now. But the time is ticking and they can’t wait all season to get this thing going.
It’s now a third of the way through June and the White Sox need to make a change which is becoming less and less likely. The change many want to see is the firing of the team’s manager Tony La Russa. Despite what the local papers say about how he’s not going anywhere, the fans are not going to make this easy for the team. Some have boycotted altogether while other are starting to make it known during the game.
During Saturday’s 11-9 loss, fans began to shout “Fire Tony” after the White Sox saw their lead and chance of win slip away.
Tony La Russa and some with ties to the organization have tried to gatekeep the fans before but the fans are staying persistent. One positive for White Sox fans is at least this time TLR is owning up and taking some of the blame.
But the “Never dodged accountability and I won’t start now” might not be all that true.
Chances are slim they send him packing but after seeing what a change in managing did the Philadelphia Phillies, maybe it is the move that needs to be made.
