Day 2 of events for Derrick Rose (Simeon) was a busy one.
The day began at the Growing Home location in Englewood. The special garden that will bloom in the Spring will named after Rose. Its focus is to support biodiversity, boost food production and bring beauty to Derrick’s childhood neighborhood.
During this event, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson proclaimed that January 4, 2025 will be known as Derrick Rose Day in the city of Chicago.
The flower related events and displays were just beginning. A Derrick Rose tribute at Clybourn Park was created using about 100,000 flowers.
The night concluded with an event at his alma mater Simeon High School. Rose honored the 1984 State Championship Boys Basketball team during the event. Friends and family gathered for food and fun including a basketball game to 25.
