Philadelphia Eagles defeat Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22, in Super LIX on Sunday evening.
It seems like most sport events and even the big ones like the Super Bowl have some type of Illinois connection.
This game was no different.
Lyons Township alum Jake Elliot and Crystal Lake South alum Trevor Keegan are members of the Eagles and have earned themselves a championship ring.
Elliot has been a kicker for Philadelphia since 2017. He has played in 145 games including 15 playoff games. Of those 15, he’s played in three Super Bowls and now has two Super Bowl wins- LII and LIX.
Tonight, Elliot was 4-for-4 on field goals and 4-for-4 on extra points. His attempts were from 29, 48 (twice), and 50 yards out. He is now the most kicker in NFL Super Bowl history.
Keegan is a rookie for the Eagles and has appeared in one game.
Prior to getting drafted by Philadelphia in the 2024 NFL Draft with the 172 pick (5th round) out of Michigan. He was 3-time Big Ten Champion and won the College Football National Championship in 2023 as a member of the Wolverines.
