The injury bug has hit a few former Illinois high school hoopers.
ESPN senior NBA insider Sham Charania reported on Friday that Dallas Mavericks power forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper (Lake Forest) with a right wrist injury which is expected to require season-ending surgery. He added later that Prosper has ligament damage in his right wrist.
The 2023 first-round pick has not missed a game since Christmas Day. Dallas saw lots of shakeup around the trade deadline leaving opportunity for Prosper minutes. He was averaging 5.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 16.3 minutes over his last 24 games, including four starts.
This season, Prosper averaged 3.9 points and 2.4 rebounds across 52 games for the Dallas Mavericks. Prosper has improved in many stat categories in his second season in the NBA.
New York Knicks points Jalen Brunson (Stevenson) rolled his ankle in an overtime loss to Los Angeles Lakers on March 6. He was inactive in Friday’s 105-95 loss to the Clippers. He’s expected to miss to miss two weeks.
Brunson has started 61 of the 63 Knicks games. He averaging 26.3 points, three rebounds, a career-high 7.4 assists, and one steal in a career-high 35.4 minutes per game.
The third is Houston Rockers point guard Fred VanVleet (Auburn). He played in a loss to Sacramento Kings on March 1 after missing 11 straight games. Since that game, he’s missed the last three games connected to that same right ankle injury that kept him out already.

Cleveland Cavaliers defeated Charlotte Hornets, 118-117. Max Strus (Stagg) made the started in the win. He had three points (0-3 FG, 0-3 3PT, 3-3 FT) with three rebounds (one offensive), an assist, a turnover, and a team-worst -14 plus-minus in 22 minutes. He is 14-for-16 at the line this season.
Memphis Grizzlies defeat Dallas Mavericks, 122-111. John Konchar (West Chicago) did not play in the win. Max Christie (Rolling Meadows) start for Dallas. He had eight points (3-11 FG, 2-5 3PT) with five rebounds, three assists, a steal, a block, two turnovers, and a -17 plus-minus in 34 minutes. His two turnovers were a team-worst tied with two others. Christie is averaging 32.7 minutes per game with Dallas.
Minnesota Timberwolves defeated Miami Heat, 106-104. Terrence Shannon Jr. (Lincoln Park) came off the bench for T’wolves. He had six points (2-2 FG, 2-2 3PT) with a turnover and a -6 plus-minus in eight minutes. His -6 plus-minus was a team-worst tied with Jaylen Clark. Shannon is 6-for-8 from beyond the arc over his last five games.
G League Games
College Park Skyhawks defeated Raptors 905, 134-127. Evan Gilyard II (Simeon) started in the loss. He had 11 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3PT, 1-1 FT) with four rebounds (one offensive), nine assists, two steals, three turnovers, and a +5 plus-minus in 37 minutes.
Oklahoma City Blue defeated Salt Lake City Stars, 133-131, in overtime. Justin Harmon (Curie) came off the bench in the loss. He had five points (2-5 FG, 1-1 3PT) with a rebound, an assist, a steal, two turnovers, and a -2 plus-mini in 13 minutes.
