Cleveland Cavaliers defeated Memphis Grizzlies, 133-124, for their 16th win in a row. Max Strus (Stagg) had nine points (2-4 FG, 2-4 3PT, 3-3 FT) with four rebounds, five assists, a steal, and a +7 in 22 minutes. He is up to 91.3 percent from the free throw line this season (21-23 FT). John Konchar (West Chicago) had two points (1-1 FG) with a rebound, an assist, and a +11 plus-minus in four minutes. He has yet to score in double-digits this season.
Denver Nuggets defeated Los Angeles Lakers, 131-126. Jordan Goodwin (Althoff Catholic) made his first start of the season. He had 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-3 3PT) with six rebounds (three offensive), two assists, a steal, a block, and a -8 plus-minus in 34 minutes. Goodwin is shooting a career-high 51.6 from the field and 48.3 percent beyond the arc.
Los Angeles Clippers defeated Atlanta Hawks, 121-98. Cam Christie (Rolling Meadows) came off the bench for Los Angeles for the first time since February 12. He had two points (1-1 FG) with a rebound, an assist, and a +4 plus-minus in two minutes.
Houston Rockets defeated Dallas Mavericks, 133-96. Fred VanVleet (Auburn) made his second straight start for Houston. He had eight points (3-8 FG, 2-4 3PT) with seven rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a +19 plus-minus in 25 minutes. His one steal was a game-high tied with eight others. VanVleet has not scored 20 or more points since January 25.
Max Christie (Rolling Meadows) came off the bench for the eighth time for Dallas. He had two points (1-13 FG, 0-4 3PT) with four rebounds and a -23 plus-minus in 34 minutes. Christie made just one field goal for the 14th time this season. He has just one game where he failed to score a field goal or free throw.
Minnesota Timberwolves defeated Orlando Magic, 118-111. Terrence Shannon Jr. (Lincoln Park) did not play in the win for Minnesota. Also, Shannon’s teammate lost a bet and had to wear Shannon’s old jersey. Illinois defeated Iowa 106-94 in the Big Tourney on Thursday, March 13.
G-League Games
Osceola Magic defeated Stockton Kings, 137-119. Xavier Pinson (Simeon) had a -2 plus-minus in two minutes off the bench for Osceola. Chasson Randle (Rock Island) came off the bench in the loss. He had 13 points (4-6 FG, 2-3 3PT) with five rebounds (two offensive), three assists, a steal, two turnovers, and a -14 plus-minus in 25 minutes.
Long Island Nets defeated Memphis Hustle, 130-116. DJ Steward (Whitney Young) started for Memphis while Charles Mathews (St. Rita) and Malachi Smith (Belleville West) came off the bench. Steward had 25 points (8-16 FG, 1-5 3PT, 5-6 FT) with four rebounds (two offensive), seven assists, four turnovers, and a -24 plus-minus in 36 minutes. Matthews had six points (2-5 FG, 0-2 3PT, 1-2 FT) with five rebounds (one offensive), a turnover, and a +6 plus-minus in 25 minutes. Smith had 12 points (5-9 FG, 2-3 3PT) with a rebound, three assists, two turnovers, and a -11 plus-minus in 31 minutes.
Maine Celtics defeated Greensboro Swarm, 115-104. Drew Peterson (Libertyville) started for Maine. He had 22 points (8-18 FG, 4-12 3PT, 2-2 FT) with four rebounds (one offensive), three assists, five turnovers, and a -5 plus-minus in 33 minutes.
