Miami Heat defeated Washington Wizards, 120-94. Richaun Holmes (Lockport) came off the bench in the loss. He had eight points (4-5 FG) with eight rebounds (two offensive) rebound, a steal, a block, and a team-best -1 plus-minus in 15 minutes. His two offensive rebounds were a team-hgih tied with Justin Champagnie. His eight total rebounds were a team-high with Bub Carrington. Holmes has multiple offensive rebounds in 18 of his 30 appearances.
Oklahoma City Thunder defeated Chicago Bulls, 145-117. Matas Buzelis (Hinsdale Central) started for Chicago while Jevon Carter (Proviso East) and Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon) came off the bench. Buzelis had 14 points (5-12 FG, 2-7 3PT, 2-2 FT) with seven rebounds, an assist, a steal, a game-high four blocks, a turnover, and a -22 plus-minus in a game-high 31 minutes. Not only were the four blocks a game-high but a new season-high for Buzelis.
Carter had a team-high 17 points (6-14 FG, 5-11 3PT) with two rebounds (one offensive), three assists, and a +3 plus-minus in 18 minutes. His field goals were a team-high tied with three others. His made 3-pointers and 3-point attempts were also team-highs. This was Carter’s second game with at least five made 3-pointers. Carter played in only five of Chicago’s 15 March games. Horton-Tucker had 16 points (6-10 FG, 1-4 3PT, 3-5 FT) with two rebounds (one offensive), a steal, a turnover, and a team-high +12 plus-minus in 16 minutes. His field goals were a team-high tied with three others. He also led the team in free throws and free throw attempts. This was the 15th game that Horton-Tucker scored in double-digits.
Los Angeles Clippers defeated Orland Magic, 96-87. Cam Christie (Rolling Meadows) did not play in the win.
Boston Celtics defeated Memphis Grizzlies, 117-103. John Konchar (West Chicago) grabbed a rebound and had a zero plus-minus in about a little over a minutes off the bench for Memphis. Konchar has played 42 games and has yet to score in double digits.
Brooklyn Nets defeated Dallas Mavericks, 113-109. Anthony Davis (Perspectives) started for the Mavs while Max Christie (Rolling Meadows) came off the bench. David had 12 points (5-10 FG, 0-1 3PT, 2-4 FT) with seven rebounds, five assists, a block, a turnover, and a +7 plus-minus in 28 minutes. His one block was a game-high tied with five others. Since his return, Davis averaging just 6.8 rebounds per game. Christie had 12 points (4-9 FG, 2-4 3PT, 2-3 FT) with three rebounds, a steal, a turnover, and a -3 plus-minus in 20 minutes. His one steal was a team-high tied with three others. Christie has scored in double figures in eight of his 16 March games.
Los Angeles Lakers defeated Houston Rockets, 104-98. Jordan Goodwin (Althoff Catholic) came off the bench for the Lakers. He had four points (2-5 Fg, 0-2 3PT) with two rebounds (one offensive), an assist, a turnover, and a -4 plus-minus in 12 minutes. He has at least one offensive rebound in 20 of his 22 appearances. Fred VanVleet (Auburn) started for Houston, He had seven points (2-14 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 2-3 FT) with four rebounds, nine assists, a turnover, and a -3 plus-minus in a game-high 40 minutes. His 14 field goal attempts were a team-high tied with two others. His nine assists were a game-high tied with Los Angeles’ Luka Doncic. VanVleet has not had a double-double since January 7.
