Kate Martin (Edwardsville) scored a career-high 21 points (7-15 FG, 4-10 3PT, 3-3 FT) in the Golden State Valkyries 81-78 loss to the New York Liberty. She also had two rebounds, a steal, two turnovers, and a 1-9 plus-minus in 24 minutes.
Aneesah Morrow (Simeon) and Jewell Loyd (Niles West) went up against each other in the Las Vegas Aces 85-59 win over the Connecticut Sun. Morrow had zero points (0-5 FG) with six rebounds, an assist, a block, two turnovers, and a -6 plus-minus in 12 minutes off the Sun’s bench. Loyd started for the Aces. She had 13 points (5-9 FG, 3-6 3PT) with seven rebounds (four offensive), two assists, two turnovers, and a +16 plus-minus in the win.

Glencoe native Danny Wolf was selected No. 27 overall by the Brooklyn Nets in 2025 NBA Draft.
Wolf averaged 13.2 points on 49.7 percent shooting with 9.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.7 steals, and 1.4 blocks in 30.5 minutes per game. He started all 37 of his games for Michigan during his junior college basketball season.
Prior to his days playing high school ball at or college ball at Yale and Michigan, he played three years at Lake Forest Academy.
He quickly rose up the college ranks with his performance and even earned some accolades an honors along the way.
A couple of them include First Team All-Ivy League in 2024 and Second Team All-Big Ten in 2025.
Fred VanVleet Staying In Houston
ESPN insider Shams Charania reported that Rockford native Fred VanVleet (Auburn) is staying with the Houston Rockets and is getting a new contract.
VanVleet missed 22 games during the season due to injury but was impactful when on the court. Houston went 41-19 when he played.
He averaged 14.1 points with 3.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.6 steals per game last season.
