Chicago basketball legend Tim Hardaway (Carver) returned home on Saturday to throw a pitch out before a Chicago White Sox-Cubs game at Rate Field.

Hardaway played 13 years in the NBA with stops with the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, and the Indiana Pacers.

He was on the 1989 All Rookie Team before going on to be a five-time All Star, five-time ALL-NBA selection, and later a member of the Hall of Fame.

The Carver grad averaged 17.7 points with 3.3 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game across 867 games.

His son, Tim Jr., also is a NBA player. Jr is a 12-year vet that has played for four different teams with his last being the Detroit Pistons last season.

During his trip home, he stopped at Walter Dyett to connect with the youth of Chicago.

Not a hooper but another local also threw out a first pitch at Sox Park.

For the third time, Kendall Coyne-Schofield (Sandburg) threw out the first pitch at a White Sox game.
