Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Terrence Shannon (Lincoln Park) celebrated his 25th birthday on Wednesday.

Shannon Jr. had a pretty successful rookie season after being drafted by Minnesota with the 27th overall pick in the first round of 2024 NBA Draft.

He saw minimal NBA minutes during November and December as he played in a combined 10 games those month. He played for their G League affiliate, Iowa Wolves in the Tip-Off tournament and shined.

Across two tip-off games, he averaged 33 points on shooting splits of .467/400/.929 with four rebounds and 4.5 assists.

He missed time in January but snuck into a couple more Iowa games. He averaged 40 points on over 40 percent shooting. He scored a season-high 47 against the Salt Lake City Stars.

February was a big month for the rookie. He played in 11 games and averaged 9.7 points on 49.4 percent shooting in 18.8 minutes per game. On February 24, he had his first double-double when he finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds in a 131-128 overtime at Oklahoma City.

A game later on the 27th, he scored an NBA career-high 25 points on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers. The following night against the Utah Jazz, Shannon Jr. made his first NBA start and had 17 points.

He played a total of 32 NBA games including that one start for Minnesota during the regular season. He finished his NBA rookie season averaging 4.3 points on splits of .482/.355/.810 with 1.5 rebounds and an assist.

Shannon Jr. was on the playoff roster for the T’Wolves. He did not get much playing time in the first two series but played in three consecutive games during the Western Conference Finals

Game 3 was a big for the rookie as he finished with 15 points in 13 minutes.

The rookie had 11 points (3-8 FG, 1-3 3P, 4-4 FT) with a rebound, a steal, a turnover, and a -10 plus-minus in 16 minutes in Game 5.

Minnesota did not survive the havoc brought on by the future NBA Champion Oklahoma City Thunder thus ending Shannon’s rookie campaign.

He went on to play in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and shined. He earned First Team honors for his performance.

With a fresh mind and full summer of relaxation and training, Terrence Shannon Jr. will likely be one of the better sophomores in NBA next season.
