About two months since her number joined the Los Angeles Sparks rafters, Candace Parker’s No. 3 is joining the Chicago Sky rafters at Wintrust Arena.

Candace Parker (Naperville Central) spent two years of her legendary career with the Chicago Sky. In her first season, she helped lift her team to their first WNBA championship.

She averaged 13.2 points on 45.8 percent shooting with 8.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.9 steals, and 1.1 blocks in 55 regular season games for Chicago.

The Naperville native earned WNBA first team honors in 2022 and was named to two All Star teams during her two seasons in Chicago.

Many people came out to celebrate including old teammates like Courtney Vandersloot, Allie Quigley (Joliet Catholic), and Kahleah Copper as well as her former coach, James Wade. Other attendees include Common, Jennifer Hudson, Bam Adebayo, and many others.

Her stint was brief but her impact on the game, this city, and just anyone and anything that is connected to her can be seen for miles.

Despite the Sky’s best efforts, Las Vegas Aces defeated them79-74. Jewell Loyd (Niles West) came off the bench for the Aces. She had two points (0-5 FG, 0-4 3PT, 2-2 FT) with two rebounds (one offensive), an assist, three steals, a block, and a game-high +12 plus-minus in 29 minutes. Her three steals were also a game-high tied with Chicago’s Angel Reese.

New York Liberty defeated Connecticut Sun, 81-79. Sun rookie Aneesah Morrow (Simeon) started her 14th straight game and her 16th of the season. she also finished the game with her third double-double of the season. She had 18 points (6-11 FG, 3-3 3PT, 3-4 FT) with 15 rebounds (four offensive), a turnover, and a -2 plus-minus in 26 minutes.
