Summer: Day 1

Yesterday’s Cubs game was the first of the Summer for me. It was the second on the year though. I got done at school at 11:30 and got straight to Wrigley.  It was not the best day at Wrigley Field.

I started the day by asking my cousin if had any prediction. He said:

“There are going to be five homeruns.” -Joe Carballo

Arrieta threw a pitch hard and down the middle and the game had begun. Alcides Escobar went swinging with a bomb to left center. Errors would later cost the Cubs throughout the game. In the 4th inning, Lorenzo Cain was on base and Hosmer drove him in on a RBI double. Royals had a 4-1 lead on the Cubs at that time.

Before the bottom of the sixth inning I told my cousin that this is going to be a big inning it was.

Soler hit a rocket to bring the Cubs closer to tying the game. Russell would later tie it with the 5th homerun of the game.

The eighth inning was rough. Pedro Strop lasted 1/3 of an inning. He walked Moustakas, Cain doubled and scored him. Hosmer then walked. Infante hit a ball straight to Dexter Fowler. It looked to be the third out but Fowler slipped up and dropped the ball which caused the momentum to shift. Two runs would score giving the Royals a 6-4 lead. They would add another run in the 9th and win 7-4.

Not all was bad. It was the First Bleacher Friday of the year. The employees were giving out sunglasses to 21 and older fans. (The glasses were sponsors by Budweiser). For us non-21 and older fans we got:

Yes we did get sunscreen. Another positive was the eye candy on the third base line. The Mysterious Ball Girl.

Thanks for reading. More posts to come soon!
