Jalen vs. Everybody Debuts on ESPN

Current NBA analyst and former NBA player, Jalen Rose debuted his new show Tuesday night on ESPN. Jalen vs. Everybody was noticed by NBA fans largely because of a promotional video that gained growing interest and spread across social media.

The video begins with Jalen Rose walking through a restaurant on his phone when suddenly Kobe Bryant calls him over. Not long after, Bryant with no hesitation found a way to bring up that night of January 22nd, 2006.

For those that don’t remember, on January  22nd, 2006, Kobe Bryant went on a scoring frenzy and dropped 81 points against the Toronto Raptors. Who was guarding him? None other than Jalen Rose. It was and still is the closest any player has ever gotten to Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 point game.

It seems to have become a laughable memory for Rose now.

Back in April, Rose said, “I’m determined to be on Kobe’s statue.” Later, he jokes, “playing defense of course.”

In another promotional video shared just before showtime a fake depiction of the Kobe statue was shown on ESPN NBA Countdown.

Just remember…do not try and troll him on Twitter. Rose has made it pretty clear over the years that he blocks anyone who sends him any 81 jokes.
