Saturday evening, just three former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Pretty quiet night since the average is around 7 or so. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from December 30.
Best of the Day: JaVale McGee
McGee brought the energy and filled the stat sheet in the Cleveland Cavaliers win over the Atlanta Hawks.
- JaVale McGee (Franciscan/Cavaliers)- 25 minutes, 14 points, 6/11 FG, 2/5 FT, 5 offensive rebounds, 9 total rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, a block, 2 turnovers, and +13 in a 96-91 win over the Hawks.
The rest of the performances:
- Richaun Holmes (Lockport/Kings)- 33 minutes, 11 points, 4/8 FG, 3/3 FT, 3 offensive rebounds, 9 total rebounds, 2 blocks, and +5 in a 102-94 loss to the Rockets.
- Fred VanVleet (Auburn/Raptors)- 40 minutes, 27 points, 9/23 FG, 4/13 3PT, 5/5 FT, 2 offensive rebounds, 8 total rebounds, 5 assists, a steal, a block, and +3 in a 120-116 loss to the Pelicans.
