Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- January 6 Recap

Wednesday evening, nine former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from January 6.

Best of the Day: Richaun Holmes

Richaun Holmes might be one of the best players most don’t know (yet). The former JUCO athlete saw many career highs including a serving nearly a double-double (12.3 points and 8.1 rebounds). This year, Holmes is getting a lot more starter minutes and doing much of the same while seeing some improvements.

  • Richaun Holmes (Lockport/Kings)- 30 minutes, 24 points, 10/11 FG, 0/1 3PT, 4/6 FT, 3 offensive rebounds, 8 total rebounds, 5 assists, a steal, a turnover, and +9 in a 128-124 win over the Bulls.

The rest of the performances of the day:

  • Isaiah Roby (Dixon/Thunder)- 11 minutes, 5 points, 2/2 FG, 1/1 3PT, an offensive rebound, 2 total rebounds, 2 turnovers, and -3 in a 111-110 win over the Pelicans.
  • Jahlil Okafor (Whitney Young/Pistons)- 11 minutes, 6 points, 3/5 FG, 2 offensive rebounds, 3 total rebounds, and +2 in a 130-115 loss to the Bucks.
  • Derrick Rose (Simeon/Pistons)- 11 minutes, 10 points, 3/7 FG, 0/1 3PT, 4/4 FT, a rebound, an assist, and -6 in a 130-115 loss to the Bucks.

  • Andre Iguodala (Lanphier/Heat)- 21 minutes, 9 points, 3/5 FG, 3/5 3PT, a rebound, an assist, and -21 in a 107-105 loss to the Celtics.
  • JaVale McGee (Franciscan/Cavaliers)- 17 minutes, 6 points, 2/6 FG, 0/1 3PT, 2/2 FT, 2 offensive rebounds, 5 total rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, a turnover, and -5 in a 105-94 loss to the Magic.
  • Fred VanVleet (Auburn/Raptors)- 39 minutes, 13 points, 5/12 FG, 2/5 3PT, 1/2 FT, an offensive rebound, 4 total rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, a block, a turnover, and +5 in a 123-115 loss to the Suns.
  • Jevon Carter (Proviso East/Suns)- 17 minutes. 6 points, 2/4 FG, 2/4 3PT, a rebound, 2 blocks, a turnover, and +10 in a 123-115 win over the Raptors.
  • Patrick Beverly (Marshall/Clippers)- 30 minutes, 7 points, 2/8 FG, 1/5 3PT, 2/2 FT, an offensive rebound, 3 assists, a steal, a block, and +8 in a 108-101 win over the Warriors.
