Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- January 14 Recap

Thursday evening, just four former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from January 14.

Best Of The Day: Max Strus

Due to the current Miami Heat situation with players being out, Max Strus has seen an increase in minutes. Thursday, he saw several career-highs. Despite the loss, the former D2 and D1 hooper had a near double-double with 11 points and 7 rebounds.

  • Max Strus (Stagg/Heat)- 28 minutes, 11 points, 4/8 FG, 2/6 3PT, 1/3 FT, an offensive rebound, 7 total rebounds, an assist, a steal, and -5 in a 125-108 loss to the 76ers.

The rest of the performances of the day:

  • Andre Iguodala (Lanphier/Heat)- 25 minutes, 2 points, 1/1 FG, 3 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 turnovers, and -11 in a 125-108 loss to the 76ers.

  • Fred VanVleet (Auburn/Raptors)- 36 minutes, 17 points, 6/20 FG, 5/15 3PT, a rebound, 8 assists, 4 turnovers, and -5 in a 111-108 win over the Hornets.

  • Robert Covington (Proviso West/Trail Blazers)- 27 minutes, 3 points, 1/7 FG, 1/5 3PT, a rebound, an assist, 2 steals, a block, 2 turnovers, and -10 in a 111-87 loss to the Pacers.
