Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- February 1 Recap

Monday evening, twelve former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from February 1.

Best Of The Day: Max Strus

Max Strus shocked NBA Twitter last night after dropping a career-high 19 points off the bench. As a bonus, @MiamiHeat retweet my Tweet.

  • Max Strus (Stagg/Heat)- 20 minutes, 19 points, 7/11 FG , 5/9 3PT, 2 rebounds, a steal, a turnover, and +7 in a 129-121 overtime loss to the Hornets.

  • Andre Iguodala (Lanphier/Heat)- 27 minutes, 9 points, 3/7 FG, 3/7 3PT, 0/2 FT, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, a steal, a turnover, and +4 in a 129-121 overtime loss to the Hornets.
  • JaVale McGee (Franciscan/Cavaliers)- 13 minutes, 0/3 FG, 2 offensive rebounds, 5 total rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 turnovers, and -6 in a 100-98 win over the Timberwolves. McGee’s first game since Monday, January 25.
  • Richaun Holmes (Lockport/Kings)- 33 minutes, 17 points, 6/7 FG, 5/7 FT, 2 offensive rebounds, 10 total rebounds, 3 assists, 6 blocks, 4 turnovers, and +14 in a 118-109 win over the Pelicans. Another near triple-double.

  • Anthony Davis (Perspectives/Lakers)- 36 minutes, 25 points, 10/14 FG, 0/2 3PT, 5/6 FT, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, 3 blocks, 5 turnovers, and +2 in a 107-99 win over the Hawks.

  • Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon/Lakers)- 19 minutes, 0/2 FG, 5 rebounds, an assist, a steal, a block, and -3 in a 107-99 win over the Hawks.
  • Robert Covington (Proviso West/Trail Blazers)- 28 minutes, 5 points, 2/9 FG, 1/5 3PT, 2 offensive rebounds, 8 total rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 turnovers, and -19 in a 134-106 loss to the Bucks.

  • Isaiah Roby (Dixon/Thunder)- 12 minutes, 2 points, 0/3 FG, 2/2 FT, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks, a turnover, and -11 in a 136-106 loss to the Rockets.

  • Frank Kaminsky (Benet/Suns)- 15 minutes, 11 points, 4/7 FG, 1/2 3PT, 2/2 FT, an offensive rebound, 4 total rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, a block, 2 turnovers, and +14 in a 109-108 win over the Mavericks.

  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Mavericks)- 21 minutes, 11 points, 4/9 FG, 0/3 3PT, 3/3 FT, 4 rebounds, an assist, a steal, and -8 in a 109-108 loss to the Suns.

  • John Konchar (West Chicago/Grizzlies)- 20 minutes, 5 points, 2/3 FG, 1/2 3PT, 2 offensive rebounds, 5 total rebounds, an assist, a steal, 2 blocks, and +11 in a 133-102 win over the Spurs.

  • Keita Bates-Diop (University/Spurs)- 6 minutes, 2 points, 0/1 FG, 0/1 3PT, 2/2 FT, an assist, and -9 in a 133-102 loss to the Grizzlies.
