Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- March 1 Recap

Monday evening, four former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from March 1.

Best of the Day: Jalen Brunson

Stevenson’s Jalen Brunson brought the spark in the second half. He scored 17 of his 24 points during it which helped put the Mavericks over the top and secure the victory. His 24 points are a new career-high off the bench.

  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Mavericks)- 29 minutes, 24 points, 9/13 FG, 3/6 3PT, 3/5 FT, an offensive rebound, 6 total rebounds, 3 assists, a steal, a turnover, and -1 in a 130-124 win over the Magic.

The rest of the performances of the day:

  • Keita Bates-Diop (University/Spurs)- 20 minutes, 5 points, 2/5 FG, 1/2 3PT, an offensive rebound, 3 total rebounds, and -14 in a 124-113 loss to the Nets.

  • JaVale McGee (Franciscan/Cavaliers)- 17 minutes, 10 points, 5/7 FG, an offensive rebound, 5 total rebounds, 3 blocks, and +2 in a 101-90 win over the Rockets.

  • Robert Covington (Proviso West)- 38 minutes, a season-high 21 points, 8/11 FG, 5/7 3PT, an offensive rebound, 10 total rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 turnovers, and +18 in a 123-111 win over the Hornets.
