Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- March 22 Recap

Monday evening, five former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from March 22.

Best of the Day: Richaun Holmes

  • Richaun Holmes (Lockport/Kings)- 35 minutes, 17 points, 8/9 FG, 1/1 FT, 3 offensive rebounds, a team-high 16 rebounds, 3 assists, a team-high 2 blocks (tied with Hassan Whiteside), and +23 in a 119-105 win over the Cavaliers.

The rest of the performances of the day:

  • JaVale McGee (Franciscan/Cavaliers)- 19 minutes, 18 points, 6/9 FG, 0/1 3PT, 6/6 FT, a team-high 4 offensive rebounds, 9 total rebounds, 3 assists, a team-high 2 blocks, 3 turnovers, and +7 in a 119-105 loss to the Kings.

  • Brodric Thomas (Bolingbrook/Cavaliers)- 2 minutes, 0/1 FG, 0/1 3PT, and +3 in a 119-105 loss to the Kings.
  • Isaiah Roby (Dixon/Thunder)- 31 minutes, 9 points, 4/7 FG, 1/1 3PT, an offensive rebound, 4 total rebounds, a steal, a block, 3 turnovers, and -5 in a 112-103 win over the Timberwolves.
  • Fred VanVleet (Auburn/Raptors)- 41 minutes, a game-high 27 points, 9/17 FG, 4/11 3PT, 5/5 FT, an offensive rebound, 8 total rebounds, 2 assists, a team-high 4 steals, 3 turnovers, and -4 in a 117-99 loss to Rockets.
