Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- March 26 Recap

Friday evening, nine former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from March 26.

Best of the Day: Talen Horton-Tucker

  • Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon/Lakers)- 32 minutes, 15 points, 6/11 FG, 1/4 3PT, 2/4 ft, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 2 turnovers, and +6 in a 100-86 win over the Cavaliers.

The rest of the performances of the day:

  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Mavericks)- 34 minutes, 10 points, 5/13 FG, 0/2 3PT, 0/2 FT, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 turnovers, and -4 in a 109-94 loss to the Pacers.
  • Robert Covington (Proviso West/Trail Blazers)- 30 minutes, 15 points, 4/6 FG, 3/5 3PT, 4/4 FT, an offensive rebound, 8 total rebounds, 5 assists, a steal, a game-high 4 blocks, a turnover, and +1 in 112-105 win over the Magic.

  • Kendrick Nunn (Simeon/Heat)- 16 minutes, 10 points, 4/6 FG, 2/3 3PT, and -14 in a 110-105 loss to the Hornets. Did not play the second half because of a rolled ankle.

  • Andre Iguodala (Lanphier/Heat)- 20 minutes, 0/4 FG, 0/3 3PT, 2 offensive rebounds, 7 total rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, a turnover, and -19 in a 110-105 loss to the Hornets.
  • Max Strus (Stagg/Heat)- 10 minutes, 4 points, 1/3 FG, 1/3 3PT, 1/2 FT, a steal, and +14 in a 110-105 loss to the Hornets.

  • Fred VanVleet (Auburn/Raptors)- 39 minutes, 22 points, 8/18 FG, 6/15 3PT, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal, 3 turnovers, and a team-high +5 in a 104-100 loss to the Suns.

  • Brodric Thomas (Bolingbrook/Cavaliers)- 20 minutes, 5 points, 0/7 FG, 0/4 3PT, 5/6 FT, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, a block, 2 turnovers, and -5 in a 100-86 loss to the Lakers.
  • Alfonzo McKinnie (Marshall/Lakers)- 2 minutes, 2 points, 1/3 FG, 1 offensive rebound, and -1 in a 100-86 win over the Cavaliers.
