Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- April 24 Recap

Saturday evening, ten former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from April 24.

Best of the day: Derrick Rose

  • Derrick Rose (Simeon/Knicks)- 33 minutes, 19 points, 7/10 FG, 0/1 3PT, 5/6 FT, 4 rebounds, a team-high 7 assists, a team-high 2 steals (tied with Nerlens Noel), a turnover, and a game-high +26 in a 120-103 win over the Raptors.

The rest of the performances of the day:

  • Fred VanVleet (Auburn/Raptors)- 40 minutes, 27 points (tied with OG Anunoby), 10/20 FG, 5/10 3PT, 2/2 FT, 5 rebounds, a game-high 11 assists, 2 steals, and -3 in a 120-103 loss to the Knicks.

  • Kendrick Nunn (Simeon/Heat)- 36 minutes, 22 points, 7/14 FG, 4/8 3PT, 4/4 FT, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, a block, and +4 in a 106-101 win over the Bulls.

  • Andre Iguodala (Lanphier/Heat)- 19 minutes, 6 points, 2/4 FG, 2/3 3PT, a rebound, 2 steals, and -10 in a 106-101 win over the Bulls.
  • Max Strus (Stagg/Heat)- 11 minutes, 5 points, 2/4 FG, 1/3 3PT, a rebound, a turnover, and -3 in a 106-101 win over the Bulls.
  • Keita Bates-Diop (University/Spurs)- 2 minutes and +4 in a 110-108 win over the Pelicans.
  • Anthony Davis (Perspectives/Lakers)- 28 minutes, 17 points, 5/19 FG, 0/6 3PT, 7/8 FT, a team-high 2 offensive rebounds (tied with Marc Gasol), 3 total rebounds, 3 assists, a turnover, and -19 in a 108-93 loss to the Mavericks.

  • Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon/Lakers)- 17 minutes, 6 points, 2/4 FG, 0/2 3PT, 2/2 FT, a rebound, 2 assists, a steal, and +1 in a 108-93 loss to the Mavericks.

  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Mavericks)- 23 minutes, 5 points, 1/7 FG, 3/3 FT, an offensive rebound, 5 total rebounds, 3 assists, a steal, a turnover and +0 in a 108-93 win over the Lakers.

  • JaVale McGee (Franciscan/Nuggets)- 15 minutes, 6 points, 3/5 FG, 0/1 3PT, a team-high 1 offensive rebound, 2 total rebounds, a block, 2 turnovers, and +15 in a 129-110 win over the the Rockets. His offensive rebound was the only one by a Nuggets player in Saturday’s win.
