Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- May 1 Recap

Saturday evening, eight former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from May 1.

Best of the day: Max Strus

Stagg’s Max Strus has been a solid contributor off the bench in his first full NBA season. Last night, he had his most points (17) since February 22.

Through 34 games for the Miami Heat, he is averaging 5.8 points on 45.6 percent shooting (34.1 from three) and a rebound in 12.7 minutes per game.

  • Andre Iguodala (Lanphier/Heat)- 23 minutes, 8 points, 2/4 FG, 2/2 3PT, 2/2 FT, an offensive rebound, 5 total rebounds, 3 assists, a steal, and +19 in a 124-107 win over the Cavaliers.
  • Brodric Thomas (Bolingbrook/Cavaliers)- 11 minutes, 2 points, 1/2 FG, 0/1 3PT, an offensive rebound, 2 assists, a block, 3 turnovers, and -3 in a 124-107 loss to the Heat.
  • Chasson Randle (Rock Island/Magic)- 19 minutes, 4 points, 1/6 FG, 1/3 3PT, 1/2 FT, an offensive rebound, 2 total rebounds, an assist, a turnover, and +0 in a 112-111 win over the Grizzlies.
  • Isaiah Roby (Dixon/Thunder)- 23 minutes, 2 points, 1/8 FG, 0/3 3PT, 2 offensive rebounds, 5 total rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, a turnover, and -39 in a 152-95 loss to the Pacers.

  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Mavericks)- 15 minutes, 4 points, 2/5 FG, 2 assists, and -9 in a 125-124 win over the Wizards
  • Fred VanVleet (Auburn/Raptors)- 40 minutes, a team-high 30 points, 11/25 FG, 4/11 3PT, 4/4 FT, 2 offensive rebounds, 6 total rebounds, a team-high 7 assists, 2 steals, and +0 in a 106-102 loss to the Jazz.
