Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- May 6 Recap

Thursday evening, eight former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from May 6.

Best of the day: Jahlil Okafor

  • Jahlil Okafor (Whitney Young/Pistons)- 17 minutes, 13 points, 6/9 FG, 0/1 3PT, 1/2 FT, an offensive rebound, 5 total rebounds, an assist, a steal, a turnover, and +4 in a 111-97 win over the Grizzlies.

The rest of the performances of the day:

  • John Konchar (West Chicago/Grizzlies)- 19 minutes, 11 points, 5/6 FG, 1/2 3PT, an offensive rebound, 5 total rebounds, and -14 in a 111-97 loss to the Pistons.

  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Mavericks)- 26 minutes, 15 points, 6/10 FG, 1/2 3PT, 2/2 FT, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, a turnover, and -3 in a 113-109 win over the Nets.

  • Fred VanVleet (Auburn/Raptors)- 45 minutes, 22 points, 7/25 FG, 4/12 3PT, 4/4 FT, 2 offensive rebounds, 6 total rebound, 5 assists, a team-high 2 steals (tied with DeAndre Bembry), a turnover, and -3 in a 131-129 overtime loss to the Wizards.

  • Isaiah Roby (Dixon/Thunder)- 24 minutes, 6 points, 3/6 FG, 0/2 3PT, an offensive rebound, 5 total rebounds, a steal, 3 turnovers, and -10 in a 118-91 loss to the Warriors.

  • Anthony Davis (Perspectives/Lakers)- 9 minutes, 4 points, 2/9 FG, 0/1 3PT, a rebound, a turnover, and -10 in a 118-94 loss to the Clippers. Davis left the game early with an injury.

  • Alfonzo McKinnie (Marshall/Lakers)- 15 minutes, 9 points, 4/9 FG, 1/4 3PT, a game-high 3 offensive rebounds, a turnover, and +0 a 118-94 loss to the Clippers.
  • Patrick Beverly (Marshall/Clippers)- 17 minutes, 5 points, 1/5 FG, 1/2 3PT, 2/2 FT, 2 assists, a block, 3 turnovers, and -2 in a 118-94 win over the Lakers.
