Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- May 11 Recap

Tuesday evening, fourteen former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from May 11.

Best of the day: John Konchar

West Chicago’s John Konchar scores a career-high 18 points in the Grizzlies win on Tuesday. His +36 plus-minus was the third highest for a bench player in Grizzlies history.

  • John Konchar (West Chicago/Grizzlies)- 26 minutes, 18 points, 7/10 FG, 2/4 3PT, 2/2 FT, 2 offensive rebounds, 6 total rebounds, 3 assists, a turnover, a game-high and +36 in a 133-104 win over the Mavericks.

The rest of the performances of the day:

  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Mavericks)- 25 minutes, 15 points, 6/11 FG, 3/6 3PT, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal, and -13 in a 133-104 loss to the Grizzlies.
  • Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon/Lakers)- 34 minutes, 13 points, 4/9 FG, 2/2 3PT, 3/3 FT, 2 offensive rebounds, 5 total rebounds, 10 assists, a team-high 2 steal, a game-worst 7 turnovers, and +2 in a 101-99 overtime win over the Knicks. This was his third career double-double. He also made his first game-winner too.

  • Anthony Davis (Perspectives/Knicks)- 43 minutes, 20 points, 8/23 FG, 0/1 3PT, 4/5 FT, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal, 3 turnovers, and +7 in a 101-99 overtime win over the Knicks.

  • Derrick Rose (Simeon/Lakers)- 39 minutes, 27 points, 10/22 FG, 1/4 3PT, 6/6 FT, an offensive rebound, 6 total rebounds, a team-high 6 assists, a game-high 3 steals (tied with Nerlens Noel and Frank Ntilikina), a team-high/worst 3 turnovers (tied with Julius Randle), and +6 in a 101-99 overtime loss to the Lakers.

  • Richaun Holmes (Lockport/Kings)- 26 minutes, 13 points, 4/6 FG, 5/6 FT, 7 rebounds, an assist, a steal, and +19 in a 122-106 win over the Kings.

  • Isaiah Roby (Dixon/Thunder)- 26 minutes, 9 points, 3/8 FG, 0/2 3PT, 3/4 FT, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, a block, a turnover, and -10 in a 122-106 loss to the Kings.
  • Jahlil Okafor (Whitney Young/Pistons)- 15 minutes, 4 points, 1/2 FG, 2/3 3PT, 2 rebounds, 3 turnovers, and -4 in a 119-100.
  • Kendrick Nunn (Simeon/Heat)- 33 minutes, 18 points, 7/11 FG, 1/3 3PT, 3/3 FT, 7 rebounds, an assist, a game-high 3 steals, a turnover, and -14 in a 129-121 win over the Celtics.

  • Andre Iguodala (Lanphier/Heat)- 18 minutes, 3 points, 1/1 FG, 1/2 FT, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, a block, a turnover, and +1 in a 129-121 win over the Celtics.
  • Patrick Beverly (Marshall/Clippers)- 21 minutes, 0/4 FG, 0/4 3PT, 2 offensive rebounds, 6 assists, an assist, a turnover, and +10 in a 115-96 win over the Raptors.
