Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances-June 3 NBA Playoffs Recap

Thursday evening, three former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from June 3.

Best of the day: Robert Covington

  • Robert Covington (Proviso West/Trail Blazers)- 38 minutes, 11 points, 3/3 FG, 3/3 3PT, 2/2 FT, a team-high 2 offensive rebounds (tied with Jusuf Nurkič and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson), a Team-high 10 rebounds, a team-high 3 steals, a block, 2 turnovers, and -3 in a 126-115 loss to the Nuggets.

The rest of the performances of the day:

  • Frank Kaminsky (Benet/Suns)– 7 minutes, 2 points, 1/2 FG, 0/1 3PT, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, a turnover, and +14 in a 113-100 win over the Lakers.
  • Jevon Carter (Proviso East/Suns)- 1 minute and +0 in a 113-100 win over the Lakers.
  • Anthony Davis (Perspectives/Lakers)- 5 minutes, a rebound, an assist, and -7 in a 113-100 loss to the Suns.
  • Alfonzo McKinnie (Marshall/Lakers)- 1 minute, 0/1 FG, 0/1 3PT, and +0 in a 113-100 loss to the Suns.
  • Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon/Lakers)– 19 minutes, 12 points, 6/9 FG, 0/1 3PT, an offensive rebound, 2 total rebounds, and -1 in a 113-100 loss to the Suns.
