The Tampa Bay Lightning are back-to-back Stanley Cup champions. Wednesday evening, the Lightning defeated the Montreal Canadians 1-0 to take Stanley Cup Finals Game 5 and also the series, 4-1.
The real story is about my cousin Joe Carballo. My cousin currently works as a morning radio host in Tampa Bay, Florida. He has been in that position for just over a year. Since arriving, he’s seen 2 Stanley Cups winners (Lightning), a Lombardi trophy winner (Buccaneers), and a ALCS winner (Rays).
That’s a lot of city success in such a short time.
Sure this doesn’t mean much but this has become a pattern.
Carballo went to college in 2013 in Chicago Shortly after, the 2013 Blackhawks became Stanley Cup Champions. They would also proceed to win again in 2015. And the winning continues a year later, the 2016 Chicago Cubs won a World Series after a 108 years of never winning one.
That a lot of winning. I have dubbed it “The Joe Show Effect.”
