Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their Performances at the Tokyo Olympics- August 5 and 7

Last week, just two former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in a NBA game. Below I look into and share each of their performances at the Tokyo Olympics from August 5 and 7.

Franciscan Hales’ JaVale McGee and Niles West’s Jewell Loyd

August 5

  • JaVale McGee (Franciscan Hales/Team USA)- 2 minutes, 4 points, 2/2 FG, a rebound, and a block in a 97-78 win over Australia.

August 7

  • JaVale McGee (Franciscan Hales/Team USA)- Did not play in a 87-82 win over France.
  • Jewell Loyd (Niles West/Team USA)- 11 minutes, 3 points, 1/1 FG, 1/1 3PT, a rebound, an assist, and a turnover in a 90-75 win over Japan.
