Several teams around the National Football League drafted quarterbacks in this past years’ NFL Draft. And many of those team have already started their new franchise quarterbacks. Those include Jacksonville Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence, New England Patriots’ Mac Jones, and New York Jets’ Zach Wilson. One quarterback that has yet to start out of the notable 2021 draft picks is Justin Fields. The Chicago Bear decided to wait it out and ease him into the starting role. Unfortunately, the plans have changed after a knee injury to starter Andy Dalton. This Sunday at Cleveland, Justin Fields will be the starter. Head coach Matt Nagy made it official earlier this afternoon.
This is obviously Fields’ first games back in Ohio deciding to go to the draft. Fields played two seasons (his sophomore & junior year) at OSU and went 20-2. His only losses coming Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl and the other the following year to Alabama in the National Championship. At OSU, Field completed 396 of his 579 pass attempts for 5,373 yards while throwing 63 touchdowns and only 9 interceptions.
