Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- December 15

Wednesday evening, seven former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in various NBA games. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from December 15.

Best of the Day: Anthony Davis

  • Anthony Davis (Perspectives/Los Angeles)- 39 minutes, 20 points, 8/18 FG, 0/3 3PT, 4/5 FT, a game-high 12 rebounds (tied with Mavs’ Kristaps Porzingis), 2 assists, a game-high 6 turnovers, and a game-high +21 in a 107-104 overtime win over the Dallas Mavericks.

The rest of the performances of the day:

  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Dallas Mavericks)- 38 minutes, a team-high 25 points, 11/18 FG, 2/4 3PT, 1/3 FT, 3 rebounds, a game-high 9 assists (tied with Lakers’ Russell Westbrook),2 turnovers, and -8 in a 107-104 overtime loss to the Los Angeles.
  • Max Strus (Stagg/Miami Heat)- 23 minutes, 9 points, 3/9 Fg, 2/7 3PT, 1/1 FT, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, a turnover, and team-worst -16 in a 101-96 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
  • Keita Bates-Diop (university/San Antonio Spurs)- 19 minutes, 4 points, 1/2 FG, 2/2 FT, a game-high 3 offensive rebounds (tied with Hornets’ P.J. Washington), 4 total rebounds, 3 assists, a steal (tied with many others), 2 turnovers, a game-worst -19 (tied with Doug McDermott) in a 131-115 loss to the Charlotte Hornets.
  • Patrick Beverly (Marshall/Minnesota Timberwolves)- 30 minutes, 11 points, 4/9 FG, 3/7 3PT, 0/2 FT, 2 rebounds, a team-high 8 assists, a team-high 1 block (tied with several others), a turnover and +24 in 124-107 win over the Denver Nuggets.
  • John Konchar (West Chicago/Memphis Grizzlies)- 18 minutes, 9 points, 3/3 FG, 2/2 FG, 1/2 FT, 2 offensive rebounds, 5 total rebounds, a steal, a turnover, and a game-high +26 in a 113-103 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Konchar has not missed a field goal attempt in his last two game (7 for 7 on field goal attempts- 5 for 5 on threes).
  • Robert Covington (Proviso West/Portland Trail Blazers)- 23 minutes, 4 points, 2/6 FG, 0/4 3PT, an offensive rebound, 3 total rebounds, an assist, a game-high 3 steals (tied with Grizzlies’ Steve Adams), a game-high 2 blocks (tied with a few others), a game-high 3 turnovers (tied with several others), and -27 in a 113-103 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.
