Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- December 20- Alfonzo McKinnie Night at the UC

Monday evening, four former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in various NBA games. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from December 20.

Best of the Day: Alfonzo McKinnie

Marshall grad Alfonzo McKinnie has found his way onto the Chicago Bulls roster after COVID protocol opened spots for new players. Prior to joining the team, he was a member of the Mexico City Capitanes’ inaugural roster. Much like a majority of the guys in these articles, McKinnie went undrafted after leaving Green Bay. He got picked up as a free-agent and has split timed between the NBA and G League since 2016. He spent 2015 and some of 2016 playing in Germany and then Mexico. He has previously played for the Toronto Raptors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Los Angeles Lakers. McKinnie played high school basketball at Curie before finishing his high school career at Marshall for his senior year. Monday afternoon, his stay in Chicago was extended as the Bulls signed him to a second 10-day contract. He responded by drop 16 points and grabbing 5 rebounds in a 133-118 win over the Houston Rockets.
