Former Illinois Athletes and their NBA Performances- January 20- Keifer Sykes Comes Up Clutch in the Pacers’ OT Win

Thursday evening, four former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in various NBA games. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from January 20.

Best of the Day- Keifer Sykes

Keifer Sykes (Marshall) scored 7 of his 10 points in the fourth quarter/overtime in the Pacers’ big win. He contributed 5 of the Pacers’ 11 overtime points.

  • Keifer Sykes (Marshall/Indiana Pacers)- 31 minutes, 10 points, 4/12 FG, 2/5 3PT, 2 offensive rebounds, 4 total rebounds, 3 assists, 2 turnovers, and +13 in a 121-117 overtime win over the Golden State Warriors.

Rest of the Day’s Performances

  • Andre Iguodala (Lanphier/Golden State Warriors)- 31 minutes, 4 points, 1/2 FG, 2/2 FT, 2 offensive rebounds, 5 total rebounds, 4 assists, a game-high 4 blocks, 4 turnovers, and a game-high +16 (tied with Pacers’ Justin Holiday) in a 121-117 overtime loss to the Indiana Pacers.
  • JaVale McGee (Hales Franciscan/Phoenix Suns)- 18 minutes, 8 points, 3/5 FG, 2/2 FT, an offensive rebound, 4 total rebounds, a team-high 2 turnovers (tied with 2 others), and -1 in a 109-101 win over the Dallas Mavericks.
  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Dallas Mavericks)- 35 minutes, 19 points, 8/13 FG, 1/2 3PT, 2/2 FT, a game-high 2 offensive rebounds (tied with many others), 5 rebounds, an assist, 6 turnovers, and a game-worst -16 in a 109-101 loss to the Phoenix Suns.
