Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- February 15

Tuesday, nine former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in various NBA games. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from February 15.

Best of the Day: Patrick Beverly

  • Patrick Beverly (Marshall/Minnesota Timberwolves)- 36 minutes, 15 points, 5/12 FG, 1/8 3PT, 4/8 FT, a team-high 4 offensive rebounds (tied with Minnesota’s Jarred Vanderbilt), 7 total rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, a game-high 2 blocks (tied with 2 others), 2 turnovers, and +11in a 126-120 win over the Charlotte Hornets.

  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Dallas Mavericks)- 39 minutes, 19 points, 6/14 FG, 3/5 3PT, 4/5 FT, an offensive rebound, 4 total rebounds, a team-high 6 assists (tied with Luka Doncic), a team-high 2 steals, 2 turnovers, and +12 in a 107-95 win over the Miami Heat.
  • Sterling Brown (Proviso East/Dallas Mavericks)- 6 minutes, a rebound, an assist, and +2 in a 107-95 win over the Miami Heat.
    • First game since January 17, 2022. Brown missed the last 13 Dallas Mavericks games.
  • Max Strus (Stagg/Miami Heat)- 21 minutes, 4 points, 1/4 FG, 1/3 3PT, 1/1 FT, a rebound, an assist, a turnover, and +2 in a 107-99 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
  • Brodric Thomas (Bolingbrook/Boston Celtics)- 12 minutes, 5 points, 2/2 FG, 1/1 3PT, a rebound, a block, a turnover, and +5 in a 135-87 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
    • First NBA game since January 14, 2022.
    • 2nd highest amount played this season. Previous high was 13:57 on December 29, 2021.

  • Keifer Sykes (Marshall/Indiana Pacers)- 28 minutes, 10 points, 4/12 FG, 2/6 3PT, an offensive rebound, 5 assists, a steal, a turnover, and a game-worst -14 in a 128-119 loss ton the Milwaukee Bucks.
  • John Konchar (West Chicago/Memphis Grizzlies)- 26 minutes, 5 points, 1/5 FG, 1/4 3PT, 2/4 FT, an offensive rebound, 6 total rebounds, 2 assists, a turnover, and +7 in a 121-109 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
  • JaVale McGee (Hales Franciscan/Phoenix Suns)- 17 minutes, 8 points, 4/7 FG, 4 rebounds, a block, 2 turnovers, and -3 in a 103-96 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
