Former Illinois Prep Athletes and their NBA Performances- February 25- Another Isaiah Roby Double-Double

Friday, nine former Illinois prep athletes saw minutes in various NBA games. Below I look into and share each of their NBA performances from February 25.

Best of the Day: Isaiah Roby

Isaiah Roby (Dixon) has not had an easy season as he’s dealt with injuries and inconsistent playing time with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The OKC forward had his second double-double of the season on Friday.

  • Isaiah Roby (Dixon/Oklahoma City Thunder)- 28 minutes, 10 points, 3/6 FG, 4/4 FT, a team-high 3 offensive rebounds (tied with Darius Bazley), a team-high 11 total rebounds, 4 assists, 2 turnovers, and +1 in a 129-125 overtime win over the Indiana Pacers.

  • Admiral Schofield (Zion-Benton Township/Orlando Magic)- 1 minute and -2 in a 119-111 loss to the Houston Rockets.
  • Keita Bates-Diop (University/San Antonio Spurs)- 14 minutes, 6 points, 2/3 FG, 2/2 FT, an offensive rebounds, a steal, 2 turnovers, and a team-worst -9 in a 157-153 double-overtime win over the Washington Wizards.
  • Max Strus (Stagg/Miami Heat)- 7 minutes, 3 points, 1/2 FG, 1/1 3PT, an assist, a steal, and +3 in a 115-100 win over the New York Knicks.
  • Patrick Beverly (Marshall/Minnesota Timberwolves)- 19 minutes, 2 points, 0/3 FG, 0/3 3PT, 2/2 FT, 2 offensive rebounds, 6 total rebounds, a team-high 1 steal (tied with 3 others), a game-high 4 turnovers, and -19 in a 133-102 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.
  • JaVale McGee (Hales Franciscan/Phoenix Suns)- 11 minutes, 2 points, 1/2 FG, an offensive rebounds, 2 total rebounds, an assist, a turnover, and -12 in 117-102 loss to the New Orleans Pelican.
  • Jalen Brunson (Stevenson/Dallas Mavericks)- 36 minutes, 8 points, 4/11 FG, 0/1 3PT, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, 2 turnovers, and +5 in a 114-105 loss to the Utah Jazz.
  • Robert Covington (Proviso West/Los Angeles Clippers)- 20 minutes, 10 points, 4/7 FG, 2/3 3PT, an offensive rebound, 7 total rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, a game-high 3 blocks (tied with Dwight Howard), a game-high +19 in a 105-102 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
  • Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon/Los Angeles Lakers)- 27 minutes, 16 points, 6/9 FG, 2/2 3PT, 2/3 FT, an offensive rebounds, 3 total rebounds, an assist, a team-high 2 steals (tied with Carmelo Anthony), 2 turnovers, and a game-worst -13 in a 105-102 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Friday nights after the Heat game, Bally Sports aired “Inside the HEAT: Max Strus” on their channel. It gives a closer look into the life and career of Max Strus (Stagg).

Derrick Rose (Simeon) was set to be making a return in the next month but it may on hold because of his recent procedure.
